While modeling is suspended for the time being, track planning isn't. I've been honing my skills at developing interesting-looking plans that require no cut track parts. Please enjoy two exciting new layouts:
In other news, I'll be attending the Amherst Railroad Hobby Show in Springfield, MA, at the end of the month (29 and 30 January 2011). If you'd like to meet up and chat, contact me in advance so we can make arrangements; I'll be there both days.

Work on the James River Branch will have to be suspended for the next month or two. I've embarked on a significant new project, the nature of which must remain undisclosed for a while; fear not, all will be revealed in due time, and I think it will be worth the wait. Meanwhile, I haven't forsaken the website, at least, and in fact I've just added a new page detailing a fun little trick I devised for cutting curved Micro-Trains roadbed sectional track. Enjoy!

Modeling-wise, the new year is starting off to be very low-key. I'm taking a vacation—first one in over a year and a half!—so I won't be doing any modeling for a while. Then I'll be concentrating on a number of long-neglected non-modeling projects. Consequently, there might not be any progress to report for the next few weeks. Be patient! Sometimes we need a vacation from our hobbies as much as from our work in order to recharge our creative batteries.
That said, I've been doing a bit of web work. I'm often asked how I accomplish certain basic modeling techniques, so I've started building a How-To Guide. It's a variation on a FAQ page, with a list of specific modeling tasks that link to the pages showing how I do them. With over 230 pages in this site, it can be a challenge to find specific topics, so I hope this is helpful.
